Signature Schools Finalist
The GRAMMY
Foundation has selected Warren Central High School’s Music Department as
a 2009 GRAMMY Signature Schools Finalist for the fourth
consecutive year. As the GRAMMY Award signifies excellence in
recording, the GRAMMY Signature Schools program annually honors
exceptional public high school music programs across the country. Music
programs are awarded
Signature School status based on the following Benchmarks for
Evaluation:
o
Excellent instrumental and choral performance ensembles;
o
High quality instruction in multiple musical genres;
o
High quality instruction available to all students in
non-performance courses (e.g. music theory, electronic music, etc.);
o
A variety of avenues to provide music education to a
larger segment of the student body.
Warren
Central is one of five Indiana schools selected as a Signature Schools
Finalists, and the only one to receive four consecutive Finalist
honors. The other Indiana Finalists are Center Grove High School
(Greenwood), Chesterton High School (Chesterton), New Albany High School
(New Albany) and Penn High School (Mishawaka). All finalists must now
submit recorded performance samples and additional information about
their school music program. GRAMMY Signature School Award winners will
