Concert Orchestra Ensembles
Students are placed into 4 different ensembles that all meet during the school day as a class. The orchestras are all co-curricular classes and will have performances outside of the school day, both on and off the Warren Central campus. Beginning Orchestra - Beginning orchestra students will be instructed in the music fundamentals of violin, viola, cell, or bass. Members must attend concert performances, contests, and extra rehearsals outside of the school day. Instruments may be provided through a rental program (for a nominal fee). No prior music experience is needed.
Prelude Festival Orchestra - Prelude Orchestra performs the music of moderate difficulty with emphasis on developing skills and preparing for membership in intermediate/advanced orchestras. Members must attend the concert and extra rehearsals outside of the school day. Instruments may be provided through a rental program (for a nominal fee.)
Intermezzo Concert Orchestra - Intermezzo Orchestra performs the music of moderate difficulty with emphasis on developing skills and preparing for membership in advanced orchestras. Members must attend the concert and extra rehearsals outside of the school day. Instruments may be provided through a rental program (for a nominal fee.)
Philharmonic Orchestra - Philharmonic performs the music of moderate-advanced difficulty while developing skills and preparing for membership in Symphony Orchestra. Members must attend concert performances, contests, and extra rehearsals outside of the school day. Instruments may be provided through a rental program (for a nominal fee).
Symphony Orchestra - This group performs advanced levels of orchestra literature of varying styles and genres. They will have 4-6 performances throughout the school year outside of the school day to enhance student learning. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in solo and ensemble events and private lessons to develop elements of musicianship. Select students from the Honors Band will be added to this ensemble during the second semester the Symphony Orchestra and will have a required evening rehearsal on Mondays in addition to after school sectionals. This ensemble has been named an ISSMA State Finalist numerous times.
