MUSIC HISTORY & APPRECIATION (1961) (1962)

Prerequisites: Prior or concurrent enrollment in the high school band, orchestra, choir, or piano
This non-performance class explores the music of various historical periods & styles (classical, folk, music theater, jazz, popular, etc.) through listening experiences and projects. Investigations of music theory, music history, and composers/performers are included. Ability to read basic music notation is required to take this course.
AP MUSIC THEORY 1-2 (1951) (1952)

The course examines composition, rhythm, harmony, and melody through music analysis. Listening skills, sight-singing, and melodic/harmonic dictation are emphasized through styles of music. An outline of the AP Music Theory exam will be presented and discussed including sample questions and exercises.
